This is a question we ask ourselves: "What do we have in our hand that we can give?" We look for needs in our community that perhaps are overlooked or could use a helping hand and partner with those needs in order to be a blessing.
Tumbleweed is a local nonprofit that identifies and addresses the needs of at-risk and homeless youth here in our city. City Church is committed to supporting their mission by providing shelter, food and hygiene supplies, mentoring, home-cooked meals, and providing gifts for the youth as well as supporting the staff of the Tumbleweed organization.
Sandstone Elementary School was adopted in 2009 with the desire to be a consistent help throughout the year to staff, parents, and students. We accomplish this through serving at several school events, childcare for PTA, teacher and staff appreciation, and financial support for the classrooms.
Other outreach events will continue to be our focus throughout the year. Examples of these have been free movies, giveaways, movies in the park with carnival-style fun for the family, as well as the Bike Clinic where we fix bikes, give away new bikes and prizes, feed a meal, and educate kids and parents alike to make simple repairs on bicycles.
Overseas Mission Opportunities City Church has been active in sending practical, personal, and financial help to the countries of Kosova and Uganda through short-term mission teams to help the indigenous people groups and the poor with building projects, fresh water wells, and medical assistance.
